Rule number one for business... don't piss off the locals.










Anyone want to hazard a guess how much it's going to cost to repair/replace/ship new Caterpillar equipement to New Caledonia... if they choose to make peace with the locals?

May 2014: A strike involving local people complaining about pollution of the sea by the process plant next to the mine. During one night, more than 10 100T Haul Trucks where smashed, 6 Articulated Haul Trucks were smashed/burned, two Loaders (992k and WA900) were also burned. They used a 992K to smash the trucks, they burned the cabs by lighting a fire on the driver seat. Police were too busy protecting the processing plant which was attacked by a group of men trying to break through the main gate using a 972G
